At 670 meters above sea level, in a very suitable land for the cultivation of Arabica coffee, Monte Café State soon took the prominent place as the islands largest coffee producer.
Roça Monte Café is located in the São Tomé Island central region of Mé-Zóchi. It is one of the oldest roças having been founded in 1858 by Manuel da Costa Pedreira, a Portuguese-Brazilian with connections to Luanda slave trafficking. At 670 meters above sea level, in very suitable land for the cultivation of Arabica coffee, it soon took the prominent place as the islands largest coffee producer.
A Roça Monte Café esta localizada na região de Mé-Zóchi, no centro da Ilha de São Tomé. É uma das mais antigas roças do país, tendo sido fundada em 1858, por Manuel da Costa Pedreira, um luso-brasileiro com ligações ao tráfigo negreiro em Luanda. A 670 metros de altitude, em terrenos bastante propícios para a cultura de café arábica, assumiu o lugar de destaque como a maior produtora de café, entre as restantes roças são-tomenses.
